Mundford 1 Wanderers 11
|
|
| |
The first game of the season for Mulbarton got going with an early
morning trip to Mundford, and an early goal for Matt W, opening the
scoring within 20 seconds! Alex H was next to try his luck, his shot
rebounded but was followed up by Ashely S to score the second, and the
first quarter ended with another goal from Ashley assisted by Alex,
making it 0 3 to Mulbarton.
The
second quarter kicked off and Ashley quickly added another goal to get
his hat-trick, and after some mixed play and a bit of a goal mouth
scramble, James proved that he had his scoring boots on to make it
0 5. Harry finished the quarter with his first goal of the game,
to take the score to 0 6.

The third quarter brought Als long awaited goal, and although this
quarter was a bit quieter with more mixed play, Matt added another goal
to make it 0 8.
The final quarter saw everybody getting a bit tired, but Al added to
the score sheet again with a long range shot from outside of the box,
Harry added his second and then Al scored again to get his hat-trick.
There was loud applause from the crowd when Mundford scored their only
goal of the game, and most people agreed that the score of 1 11
flattered Mulbarton, although Mundford
never gave up and their keeper made many fine saves.
During the game, Owen came close to scoring but did a good job in
defence, Ben also hit the post a couple of times, and although
Robbie in goal had a fairly quiet game, his distribution was good.
Mulbarton won the game by passing the ball well, and working as a
team to produce a confidence-boosting win in their first game of the
season.

U8's Success
|
|
| |
On
Saturday 24th, 3 U8 teams took part in the Wymondham Town United
5-a-side tournament, with the Saturday team winning the trophy and the
Sunday team winning the plate competition!
Later that evening, the coaches went to be presented
with the South Norfolk Youth Leagues sporting award, and then on Sunday,
10 boys from across the teams played as one team at the Brian Gunn Mini
Soccer Tournament at Carrow Road, organised by Football for Fans, and
came away as overall winners after a closely contested final, winning 2
- 0.
The
weather was awful, but the boys showed determination and fighting spirit
and never gave up against opposition from as far a field as Kings Lynn
and Peterborough.
