Belles 4 Dereham Wanderers 3

The Belles played this week at Orchard Park against Dereham Wanderers after having last week off due to water logged pitch. With a full squad of ten the Belles set their stall out showing Dereham Wanderers that the points were going to be theirs.
With a small change of formation, due to our work horse Yaz being away, saw Amber take the centre of the midfield and Holly grace the left hand side. Straight from the kick off the Belles turned up the heat with Smithy coming close from a super cross and if only she had her blinkers off I'm sure the net would have been ripped. With the Belles on top the Belles started to boss all over the park with Cheyenne & Rosie being worked to their limits and Holly & Jaz having to track their players.
The Belles hard work paid off when Jaz found the net on a lovely turn raising the Belles spirits. With Dereham coming close on a few occasions Lydia was tested to her limits when a one on one saw her pull off clinical save to keep the Belles in the match. The girls raised to the next level and with some fantastic TEAM work and the Belles started to find each other and release Amber on a mazy run which she calmly slip the ball past the keeper. With Smithy tracking the ball from the kick off the Belles gained quick possession and with a good build up see all the midfield link up. Amber found the net yet again for her well deserved 2nd of the match. With Smithy winning the goal kicks and Lydia finding Smithy from her goal kicks it was only a matter of time before Smithy decided she too will be on the score sheet.
With a change to the midfield Jenna replaced Holly before the end of the half to see Jenna battle hard stopping the Dereham girls from breaking through leaving the Belles walking in at half time 4-0 up!!!
With some changes to the formation saw Jaz after working very hard swapped for Lauren and the Belles were looking for their 5th goal but Dereham dug deep testing all areas of the pitch to see them claw a well work goal. With tired legs - Jess was brought on to replace Jenna after a excellent half and with Jess giving us a outlet with her speed only to see Dereham Wanderers bring the Belles spirits down and find the Belles net two more times leaving the Management concerned but yet faithful.
With a change to some tied legs found Jaz & Holly coming close to scoring yet working hard to ensure the points were the Belles. As of last week a good TEAM! result. Well done Belles you certainly deserved the points your finally becoming a good all round TEAM.

Final score Mulbarton Belles 4 Dereham Wanderers 3
Goal Scorers Jaz 1,Amber 2,Smithy 1
Belle of the Match Cheyenne (great performance, strong and steady)
Next week the Belles play their bogus side Firside time TBA

Belles 1 Bohemians 0

The Belles this week entertained Bohemians in a touch and go match as to whether it would be played due to the pitch conditions. With no rain, snow, hail or tornados Friday night the match was on, or was it? with the Management turning up bright and early a hard frost made the decision to play difficult and with the call of leaving it 15mins longer the sun shone down on us softening the pitch and the game was on.
With 3 late call offs that morning due to illness and a very sore Tommy thumb, the Belles had scraped a quality 7 now known as the magnificent seven! With a good warm up the Belles took their positions looking to show the away team they were in for a hard time!
Straight from the kick off the Belles took control of the match and with some excellent passing found themselves camped in Bohemians half with Smithy working hard to bag her 2nd goal to show Granddad she was going to see the colour of his money. With Cheyenne and Rosie playing the games of their lives at the back and Lydia controlling her goal the girls pushed hard often coming close to the opening goal of the game.
Amber proved she was not out for a morning stroll and played hard, twisting and turning, ducking and diving covering every blade of grass and came close in the first half. The Bohemians worked hard and scared the Belles on a few occasions coming close to finding the net with a good effort, the Belles dug deep and defended in force working as a team and clearing the goal scrambles. Yaz took control of the middle and often found space and time to produce some excellent crosses and passes. With the Belles on fine form and Lauren stepping up to the mark, some excellent play found Amber and Smithy linking up to which Smithy turned on a five pence only to see her chance go wide.
With the Belles walking in at half time at 0-0 it was time for the Belles to listen and step up their game!! and they certainly did! but not with out a few scares on the way. The Bohemians took control early and with hitting the post twice and crossbar once, the Belles were going to make sure this match was not going to slip and with tough defending Cheyenne and Rosie made sure no Bohemian was going to score.
Amber took control of the match running the Bohemian girls ragged not only skipping through challenges taking on not only one player but three, four at a time but become frustrated to see her hard work not paying off by narrowly missing. The Belles broke in numbers often finding a three on one situation but a well position keeper kept the Belles out until Smithy suddenly pulled one out of the bag with a fine finish after super work from Amber & Yaz.
With the final minutes ticking the Bohemians came close only to see Amber coolly clear the ball leaving the Belles with a great win.
Final Score Mulbarton Belles 1 Bohemians 0
Scorer Smithy 1
Belles of the Match Cheyenne & Rosie
Thanks to Jo for being our Ref
Next week the Belles play Brandon Lasses at Orchard Park time TBA

Waveney Girls 4  Belles 2

This week the Belles travelled through rain, snow & sunshine to play second from top Waveney Girls. With a squad much the same as last week the Belles kicked off their league plush and were pretty stalemate with both sides battling hard to find the opening. With Cheyenne and Rosie's brilliant pairing at the back, Cheyenne took full captaincy this week and relished her title and stopped Waveney Girls forwards, finding her break. With Rosie backing Cheyenne, Rosie played up to her defensive role and attacked the ball at every opportunity or making sure she had her foot in first leaving Lydia to stand and watch for most of the first half.
With Amber playing on the right of midfield she constantly took control making the right hand side her's and with skilful play skinned player after player as well as hitting the touch line and cutting the final ball back looking for Yaz, Jaz or Smithy to finish the hard work. With Smithy coming close to the opening goal from just a few yards out (keep your eyes open next time!) from another well worked cross from Amber the Belles camped in the Waveney half. And with Amber's onslaught the Waveney Girls it was going to be a matter of time till the hard work paid off!
With the pressure on; the Belles took their eye of the ball to see a well struck goal sneak in, but in true style Smithy took a sweet shot to find the net from Amber's cross. Jaz working hard chasing every ball she certainly created her chances leaving the Belles high at the half time whistle walking in one all.
A change to the forward line Jess made her mark, chasing the Waveney girls, forcing mistakes and with changes made to the Waveney team the game was certainly a match of two half's.
With the Belles on the back foot they were hit with a early goal but responded quickly with Jaz well worked goal twisting the defence to find the net. Yaz battled her way round the pitch winning the tackles, and popping out the other side, with the ball to find Amber who took three players on while Jaz, Yaz & Jess filled the middle crying out for the ball, only to see the ball cleared.
With a quick change to see Smithy back on, and Amber moved into the middle with Yaz coming off for a well earned rest, which quickly changed again due to Amber becoming ill (wishing you a speedy recovery!) The Waveney girls quick break saw a one on one chance with Lydia who rushed out of her box to clear the lines but was beaten twice more before the final whistle due to tired legs and good work from Waveney.
The Belles just get better & better every week!

Next match Mulbarton Belles vs. Bohemians 10.30am kick off.

Training Thursday Orchard Park 7-8.30pm
Last week we said Hello to our Barnsley followers! This week a Big Hello to Aunty Jade in Australia (anymore Belles followers out there?!!)

Belles 1 Sprowston Girls 2

The Belles after having a week off kicked off their 1st home game this year against Sprowston Girls.
With a full squad the Management were spoilt for choice!! but started a strong line up as they finished against Norwich City Girls. With simple instructions of sending a wave from the back line, right the way through the team, the Belles took control of the match and stayed pretty much 'even Steven's' for quite a while with both sides digging deep. The Belles had their early scare, but as always Lydia showed us just why she belonged between the sticks although troubled from the strong sunlight! With Amber causing problems on the rights hand side with her twisting and turning and superb running, the Sprowston midfield and defence were troubled with Jazz doing the same up front chasing every ball, the Belles were camped in the Sprowston half for a good while until Sprowston Girls finally got a break, sliding behind the defence of Rosie & Cheyenne slipped the ball in the corner.
With the call of COME ON THE BELLES! from vice Captain Cheyenne the Belles rolled their sleeves up and again took control with Cheyenne closely marking the slippery Sprowston forward, and Smithy floating all over the pitch the Belles finally clicked and with some brilliant passing, found each other using all the space on the pitch! With Yaz taking control of the middle, worked her socks off, and looked like she could run all day from box to box! With the Belles 1-0 down and Sprowston's forward causing our defence problems the tactical swap was made bringing our missed Holly off the bench (good to see you back Holly).
With a quick change the Belles found Amber feet who tricked her way down the line lifted the ball over the top only to see the crossbar stop her magical shot. And Sprowston responded with a quick goal just before the half time.
With no changes to the second half the Management could feel the Belles would pull it back it was just a matter of time! and with the Belles playing so well it was hard to make any changes.
With a string of passes being made time after time the Belles camped in the Sprowston half again not letting Sprowston out,the Belles switched the ball from one side to the other and Smithy winning the headers there was brilliance throughout the team.
Yaz busted up the middle blocking the Sprowston break and with a great pass found Amber who once again took on three players only to see what would have been her well deserved goal smash against the post. With the constant break of the Belles which could only be described as a swan of bee's homing in as well as screaming for the ball Jaz took control twisted round lifting the ball over the Sprowston defence finding the top right had corner of the Sprowston goal and with a song of "big fish little fish card board box" the Belles pushed again looking for their second which was saved by the crossbar and with the last break the Belles were beaten by the whistle finishing second.
With the Belles having 80% of the match but just not being able to finish the Belles done themselves proud and can only sum up as being MUSTARD!
final score Mulbarton Belles 1 Sprowston Girls 2
Belle of the match Smithy,Jaz & Amber (very close this week, but all played so well all deserved it)

Hello to our followers in Barnsley! can anyone beat that distance !!!! Apparently YES!
I have just been keeping myself up to date on the Mulbarton Belles' progress, through the team web page - and felt the need to show my support!
I noted the 'hello' to your Barnsley followers, at the end of the last report, followed by the question - 'can anyone beat that distance?' - well..I can beat that distance!! I'm a Mulbarton Belles U11 team supporter, who lives in Sydney, Australia! I have recently started following the teams progress following the 'million £ signing' of Amber. (I'm Amber's very proud Aunt, Jade) Congratulations to all the girls, as it sounds like they're powering through and holding their own! Good luck against Waveney Girls, and for the rest of the season! I'll be keeping an eye!
COME ON THE BELLES!!!!!

Norwich City Girls  -v- Belles

The Belles re started the 2010 league with a hard fixture away at Thorpe Rec against Norwich City Girls.
With a strong squad on paper and New multi million pound signing Amber ! the Belles turned up in good spirits for their 1st game of the year. With 2 no shows and Jenna currently sick and Holly on pre arranged arrangements the Belles had seven strong players to field with no subs. With Lydia (our trusty keeper) between the sticks, and the good old partnership of Cheynne & Rosie playing at the back Amber took her spot with Yas and Smithy in the midfield letting Jas loose up front to turn the City girls inside out.
From the start the Belles dug deep knowing it was going to be a toughie! although they showed that they were well up for it after the long Xmas and weather break. The City girls pushed forward looking for their first goal testing Lydia within minutes of kick off but once settled Cheynne made sure City were stopped in there tracks putting in tackle after tackle as well as Rosie playing the ball safely when needed. The City girls took the lead early in the first half followed by a quick 2nd with some good work rate, the Belles responded and came close a couple of times with Jas neat work rate but just could not find the power to finish. The Belles pushing to find a way through City's tough defence. New signing Amber collected the ball from the half way line and skipped passed 3 of the City girls to calmly place the ball in the bottom right hand corner opening her account and celebrated - plane style (WELL DONE AMBER!)
City responded quickly and with some excellent passing moves they knocked in a third after a double fine save from Lydia and a goal scramble. With Yas battling hard in the midfield and Jas working her socks off tracking back, the Belles won the throw in which found Smithy's feet and with a cheeky flick found the back of the net. COME ON THE BELLES 3-2.
With the girls walking in 3-2 down, what a great start to the year! With a fill up of jelly the Belles dug deep to find the equalizer and with Lydia pulling off save after save (some right hand stingers!) the City girls found our net.
The Belles pushed hard to try to pull the score line back and excellent work rate from Amber showing us her twist and turns and Smithy screaming for the ball the girls put in a fine display only to see City bang another 3 quick break goals before the final whistle.
Great 1st game back girls.
Warm welcome to Amber to the U11 Belles.

Congratulations to Lydia who is currently training with Ipswich (good or bad!!!)
oh
And happy birthday to Karl who turns 21 again
Training on Orchard Park Thursday 7.00pm-8.30pm

Belles 7 Mums in Santa hats 3

After over night talks the Belles Mum's gave the nod in a early morning call that the Big match was on with the shout of "We have our hats on and ready to play" And with the home/away team turning in good spirit the Belles warmed up with a mass snowball fight while awaiting the Mum's to take their positions on the pitch (or were they just keeping warm?)
With the Belles ready to play the Mum's matched onto the pitch (which looked like something out of the Boots advert) in full costume of Pink tutu and matching sock's un hats (Looking Brill!) and the supporters showing their appreciation with a shower of snowballs and the match began.
From the kick off the Mum's showed they were going to be no easy turnover and with excellent saves from Mummy Sandra the Belles were not impressed. Mummy Paula was showing Jenna a few diving tricks looking for that penalty and often came close and surely would have scored if not for the consort of snowballs.
The Belles finally made there breakthrough with a fine finish (or were the goals moved?) only to be soon shot down by excellent work rate from Mummy's Donna, Paula & a fine welly boot finish from Claire.
The Belles once again dug deep and excellent defending from Mummy Rachel showed the Belles how defending should be done! leaving Lindsey to hold onto her hat on her darting runs.
Only for the Belles to walk in at half time with a near 2-1 to the Belles.
After a halftime break of mince pies & sweets the Mum's took their game to the next level only to be awarded two penalties against them (1x for dragging a Belle to the floor the other for catching the ball, not by the goalie).
With the Belles now on top of there game they over powered the Mum's resulting in Mummy Donna been shown her second yellow cone card for unfair snow baths after coming near to scoring (I'm sure that would have come off the cross bar!)
With minutes to go the Belles netted again and with the final whistle going the Belles walked in with a 7-3 win. The Mum's showed there appreciation to the ref (Mr. Minns) with a showering of snow for being a great ref.
Belle of the Match Mummy Donna (decided by the Belles)
Thanks to all who were able to make it.

Horsford Youth Girls 3 Mulbarton Belles 0

The Belles this week travelled to new league team Horsford Youth.
With three call off's and one NO show the Belles field a team of six and with a gentleman's agreement to match the numbers this suddenly changed just before kick off to 7v6 but fielding 6 quality regular players the team was still strong although a little concerned about playing a different formation.
The Belles worked well and with the mighty kicks from Lydia you could see the Horsford girls were struggling to cope which Lydia came close to scoring.
The Belles were hampered by the Horsford top goal scorer and as Jaz marked her closely they match each other with their twists and turns as well as speed. The Belles held off the Horsford Youth Girls and with Smithy getting some good headers in and Yaz finding the midfield difficult to hold due to the formation the Belles walked in one nil down to a shot hitting the top left hand corner of the goal (was it in!!!!)
With the Belles socks pulled up Cheyenne encouraged the Belles not to give up! and with some fine throws from Lydia into Yaz path the Belles pushed forward for their equalizer, only to not find the back of the net but come close on a couple of occasions. Rosie showed she could do it and made some good challenges and with the girls trying hard to find the opening they needed, ran out of steam against the 7 girls leaving Lydia to pull off some excellent saves and Jaz working all over the pitch.
Roll on the home fixture!

Gorleston Girls 4 Belles 0

This week the Belles travelled long distance to 2nd from top Gorleston Girls who currently have played 6 and won 6 and just three points off being joint leaders with a game still in hand.
With this in mind the Belles had a toughen up training session Thurs where the aim was to get muddy and stuck in! With a great training session behind us and the weather a little chilly, the Belles simple instruction of remember Thursday night training session lets do it again (this time without the rugby ball!!) the Belles done themselves proud. With a mid week menu of rare steak, the Belles were certainly hungry for the ball.
With Lydia between the stick showing us just how good she was with her great kicks and excellent no fear saves, and a back line up of Cheyenne, Rosie and Holly who backed up each other when ever needed and cleared and tackled everything coming their way. Yaz and Smithy in the middle where Yaz bust up everything going and Smithy showing us her great heading skills and Jaz playing alone striker .
From the kick off the Belles tackled hard, played hard, ran hard and certainly showed the Gorleston Girls they were not going to give them the points easily. Matching every tackle like for like with tremendous blocks and fighting for the ball in every area, made this the Belles best game of the season. With Captain Holly on fine form and Cheyenne being as safe as houses and could have even given John Terry a run for this money today.
The Belles were unlucky to concede to goals in the first half, but the Gorleston Girls played very well with some excellent passing moves and it could have been more, if not for Lydia being as flexible and cool as always! With a change to the second half seeing Lauren fill Smithy place and Rosie coming off due to injury the formation changed playing 3 in midfield and again the Belles challenged the Gorleston Girls chasing every ball and trying to find that opening. Yaz showed us her twists and turns and Jaz worked in every area chasing the ball back ensuring she would either win the ball or come away with the throw.
The Belles were unlucky not to find the goal from a long range shot from Jaz but it would have only been a matter of time before either of the Belles found the back of the net.
With none of the Belles backing off and pushing forward to find the goal, the Belles got hit two more times leaving the final score.
Gorleston Girls 4 Mulbarton Belles 0
A super effort by all, done yourselves proud, (play like that every week and we will soon pick the points up) best match yet!
WELL DONE
Belle of the Match Cheyenne (well deserved)
Training Thurs on Orchard Park 7.00pm-8.30pm please bring boots (another muddy one!)
Wishing Jenna a speedy recovery on your injury from all at MWBFC
No match on Saturday (Enjoy!!)

Norwich City Girls 8  Belles 0

With the weather being kind this week the Belles went into the next round of the cup playing away against tough side Norwich City Girls. Were the Belles going to be the giant slayers of the cup?
With a change of keeper from Jenna to Lydia she showed us just how multi skilled she really was and was certainly proved right from the kick off by pulling off numerous saves to keep the City girls at bay but could only hold on so long until City managed to find the net. With Belles on the back foot throughout most of the half, found it tough going as the City girls dominated all parts of the pitch. Where were our Belles?
With the occasional inspiring run from our Captain Holly the Belles managed to creep into the City girls half only to be stopped by fine defending. With the Belles not on their game City pushed had with excellent work rate leaving the Belles sleep walking in half time 4 nil down.
With the Management talking about enthusiasm and enjoying their game the Belles finally woke up and pushed hard, Yas finally showed the yellows it was going to be her middle of the park and Cheyenne getting her foot in making Lauren work hard from the spilling ball. With the yellows collecting the loose ball, punishing the Belles three more times before Jas and Smithy worked well together to hunt the ball down only to see the shot go wide. With minutes to go the Belles final push gained two free kicks from excellent refereeing decisions, to see Jas come quite close to finding the net and Holly. Lydia was finally beaten after pulling off some fine saves leaving the Belles exiting the cup.
Final score Norwich City Girls 8 Mulbarton Belles 0

Belles 6 Firside Foxes 2

With a last minute check to pitch conditions the Belles match was on! against Firside foxes to what could only be described as a day of all weather conditions.
With a line of nine squad members and a good warm up the Belles braved the weather conditions ready to rumble in the jungle.
The Belles kicked against the wind to which the match was pretty even Steven's until a Firside goal scramble in the Belles half left the Belles one nil down, with there work cut out.The girls dug deep and were rewarded with their work rate from a great finish from Jaz with some excellent passing and moving.
With Yaz getting stuck in all over the field and being backed up with Holly fine solo runs the Belles worked hard but could quite have gone the other way due to a dis allowed goal from Firside.
With the warning shot fired the Belles dug deep and with Cheyenne close marking and Rosie playing the ball safe, left Yaz to bash her way through and scoop the ball to the top left of the Firside goal only to find the corner post.
With a few more scares from the Fireside Foxes the Belles walked in from the tough half at 1-1 and could have easily been 2 more down if not for Jenna pulling off class U11 saves ensuring that the goal was hers.
With a Management talk of pull out all the stops and keep working hard you will be rewarded the Belles threw themselves whole heartedly into the match winning every ball and stopping all play of the Foxes.
With a change of two players Lauren went into the thick of it unleashing a superb pass into Jaz path to which our goal machine was back and found the net again.
With Holly not going to be out done also found the back of the net not once but twice (and now nick named two goal Holly) with Jess closing the Foxes down quickly and all the Belles working better than ever the girls turned it on! what a difference!
With Yaz batterling well in the middle showing us her drop shoulder and turning on a five pence piece she had the Firside girls dizzy and was soon rewarded with her hard efforts smashing the back of the net.
With another change of two players sent Smithy & Rosie back on giving Jaz & Holly a well deserved rest.
Rosie fitted into the back sealing the defence and Smithy was a fresh pair of legs up front chasing the Foxes defence and was also finally rewarded, costing her Grandad extra pocket money.
Final score Mulbarton Belles 6 Firside Foxes 2 Well done the Belles! well rewarded for hard work (at last!) oh and a big thanks (no fairy on 19th!!!!)

COME ON THE BELLES!!!

Dereham Wanderers 10 Belles 3

With no subs but and one of the strongest teams fielded this season the Belles travelled to Dereham Wanderers home ground on a bright summers morning. Having beaten the strong Dereham side out of season in their own tournament we hoped this would be their lucky ground!
After last weeks performance the Belles were under instructions to be on their game and don't sit back and ensure your off the starting blocks!
Off the starting blocks YES but the Belles strolled into the match think it was going to be a easy ride! only to find Dereham take control and find the net 5 times before the half was up.
Jasmine was not given much space to be able to turn at the goal and with the ball being hit over he top by our trusty defence Lydia & Holly was only left for the Dereham defender to clear ensuring her eye was not taken off the ball.
The Belles were either shell shocked with the thought of being back at school! or just not sure how to handle two very skilled Dereham players who covered most of the pitch and were hungry for goals. With talk of passion and leadership at half time the Belles turned in a better second half pulling the match back to 5-3 with a better grip and aggression to the match which Holly bagged two goals and nearly a volley and Rosie hitting the back of the net too opening her account for the Belles. COME ON THE BELLES.
The Belles battled well to try to close the gap only to be hit 5 more times on quick breaks and good team passing which could have been more if Jenna had not pulled off some excellent saves throughout the match.
The Belles played well in spits & starts but just not hungry enough for it and was gonna be just another one of those days!  Final score Dereham Wanderers 10 Mulbarton Belles 3
Goals From Holly x2 Rosie x1
Belle of the Match Rosie
Next week the Belles are home to Firside 9.30am kick off
Training Thursday 7.00pm

Brandon Lasses 5 Belles 2

The Belles this week faced Brandon Lasses for a mid table clash to see who would take that next step to pull away with the three points. The Belles braved the weather elements, their first time facing the pouring rain this season and with a bit of a rough pitch the Belles faced a well organised Brandon side. With very simple instructions of "we need the 3 points" the Belles took to the pitch knowing they must challenge in all areas.
No sooner had the Management organised their paperwork the Belles were two down!!! where had it gone wrong? what had happened? how could this happen? The Belles heads dropped and with a knee injured striker, Jasmine collected the ball from just inside Brandon's half, and passed it neatly into the path of Yaz who battles her way through the Brandon Lasses and spanked the ball into the back of the net; Brandon 2 Belles 1.
The Belles were hampered with Brandon's dynamo mid field player who was working hard all over the pitch, but was often frustrated with the Belles good defending of Cheyenne, Lydia & Rosie but the Belles were just not on their game. With a substitute of Jasmine to Jaz, was this going to be our key to pull back the score line? and with a change to the left form Lauren who worked hard to hold the mid field lines for hungry Holly our left footed Captain, the Belles pushed hard coming close on a couple of occasions but just not close enough! leaving the Belles walking in 2-1 down.
With no changes to the second half and instruction of "if ya don't shot you don't score!" the Belles pushed hard and with Lydia ensuring every tackle counted and Yaz powering her way through the Belles got caught to some tidy passing, only to find the Lasses hit the back of the net again! with the clock ticking Holly pushed up front and Cheyenne into the middle, the Belles camped in Brandon's half with Holly coming close it was just a matter of time till Holly found the back of the net, Brandon 3 Belles 2.
The Belles pushed to try to find that next goal and with Jenna pulling a fine save off by tipping the ball over the bar it was just going to be one of those days! where the Belles conceded 2 more goals before the final whistle. The Belles showed they can do it in places but were just not out of the starting blocks leaving the Brandon Lasses to take full advantage.
Final score.
Brandon Lasses 5 Mulbarton Belles 2

Belle of the match Yaz (great work rate!)
Next week the Belles play away at Dereham Wanderers
No training Thursday due to Xmas lights switch on

Bohemians 5 Belles 2

The Belles travelled to top of the league Bohemians at Gorleston this week.
Although the weather was a fine drizzle the Belles were in high spirits and with the no show of two key players still had a strong side and were ready to rumble.
With a great warm up the Belles took to the field lead by Cheyenne, and with a change of formation 1-3-2-1 the girls showed their best performance of the season. With Jenna becoming better and better every week, she controlled her defence from between the sticks as well as showing us her safe hands and sensible head with great distribution making sure the ball was given to a yellow shirt, found in space. With Lydia playing on the right, Cheyenne central and Jass on the left sealed the back line allowing Yaz to battle and control the middle, as well as Lauren who played excellent balls into Jasmine path.
The Belles knuckled down and sealed all areas of the pitch ensuring the Bohemians made mistakes and taking advantage where allowed and within a few minutes, the Belles determination paid off allowing Jasmine to bring the ball under control weave passed 3 Bohemians players and found the back of the net WHAT A GREAT START!! COME ON THE BELLES!
No sooner had the Bohemians kicked off the Belles, once again were on their toes with Yaz taking control of the middle with a super-duper run battling her way through and releasing the ball perfectly, and Jass as calm as ever clearing the ball when required leaving Lydia to do her stuff!
The Belles calling for the ball in every area left the ref to give a un rewarding free kick to the Bohemians for a unfair call!!! to which the home side took well hitting the back of the net with a excellent finish.
The Belles bounced back, giving the ref pay back for the free kick and once again Jasmine stepped up her game and pounced on a loose ball finding the back in the net again giving the Belles a 2-1 lead at half time.
Re fuelled with Jelly the girls once again battled to hold their score line until the Bohemians made use of a bobbling ball in the area and goal scramble to find the back of the Belles net. The Belles came close to find the net the 2nd half with Jasmine hitting the side netting (making the away supporters sing) and Yaz coming close with a fine run only to see her hard work go wide of the post as well as Jasmine smashing the ball against the post.
The Belles were hampered against some rough ref decisions leaving the Management frustrated and wondering (only to be advised he had been ill this week!!) perhaps this is why?
The Belles pushed to try to claw the points back only to see the Bohemians seal the points with a 5-2 win.
The Management believe that if the Belles can produce this kind of effort every week then there is no stopping the Belles.
Final score Bohemians 5 Mulbarton Belles 2

After much pre match preparation by the Management of rabbit hole filling (or was it preparation for the Chelsea flower show?) the Belles were if fine form with a good pre match warm up and simple instruction of enjoy and mark tight the Belles kicked off. The pitch was quiet from both sides and the Belles seamed a little too quiet or was it just pre match tension! With a strong line up with the return of Cheyenne the girls battled hard to make sure they let the Waveney girls know they were not going to roll over.
With the cover of Jenna between the sticks and a strong back two of Lydia and Cheyenne, the girls made sure they were not going to be caught out cold! With Jasmine playing on the right hand side of mid field and our very own work horse Yaz bossing the middle of the park, the Waveney girls provided some excellent passing moves as was only a matter of time before they broke the Belles down with a fine move slipping the ball into the net.
The Belles heads dropped! and with Cheyenne showing great spirit lifted the Belles providing a excellent last fifteen minutes with Lydia coming close to finding the net and Yaz battering her way through to also come close, only to see the Waveney side find the back of the net again just before the half time whistle.
With a good half time talk of enjoy roll ya sleeves up and talk; the Belles lifted themselves seeing Lydia coming close with a long range effort and Jaz, Lauren linking up well to come close yet again. The Waveney girls hit us again with a good move. Rosie provided a super outlet on the left of mid field showing that she too was in the thick of it and worked hard over the pitch trying to find Jaz.
The Belles provided again a excellent last fifteen showing that they are a team to reckon with when they play as a team and with Jasmine working very hard on the right hand side chasing every ball and providing good movement, it was just going to be one of those days!
The Waveney girls hit the Belles two more times before the final whistle and with Yaz taking a injury for the team the Belles walked in 5 nil down.

Sprowston Girls 2 Belles 0

The Belles travelled to wind swept Sprowston this week to try to get their own back from the pre season match losses against the strong Sprowston side.
With three key players missing due to holidays & day trips the Belles fielded seven experienced players,no subs the girls pulled their socks up to show the Sprowston girls they were going to be a tough side to beat. With the wind behind them and Jenna the Belles camped in the Sprowston half which Lydia made sure that every ball coming through was cleared and often coming very close with her long range efforts. With Jas playing out of her normal position she calmly slotted in at the back playing every ball safe with the occasional ball along the side line playing Lauren & Jess in.
Yas battled hard in the middle ensuring the Sprowston girls knew she was there and came close on finding the net. The Belles found marking their players hard but soon got to grips shuffling along and pushing forward to pick up their players. Jenna pulled off two great saves one blocked by her knees the other hooking it out from behind her giving the Management heart attacks and smiles all at the same time. Jess showed us her speed and like a gazelle made sure she was at the ball first leaving the Belles walking in nil nil at half time.
With instructions for the second half being watch the wind the Belles got hit in the first few minutes due to lack of marking and being wind swept. The girls dug deep but wind conditions left them being camped in their own half and soon got hit again by a excellent strike from the Sprowston forward leaving Jenna high and dry.
With the dying minutes ticking by Jas cleared from the back find Jasmine who picked the ball up from the half way line at took on the last girl only to narrowly miss giving the Belles a last minute corner only to see what could have been a single point match come away with nothing.
Unlucky Belles great all round effort.

Belles 0 Norwich City Girls 9

Hmmmmmmm where do we start?
The Belles entertained Norwich City Girls this week at home on a glorious sunny day or was it the other way round?
From the kick off the Belles got hit hard by the City girls with well worked goals and within 9 minutes the Belles were 3-0 down and it was then time to wake up!
The Belles picked themselves up dusted themselves down and started to play.
Often Jenna was called on and produced a fine number of saves throughout the match.
The Belles battled hard to try bring the score line back but came in at half time 5-0 down.
With a very difficult score line to return from a few changes were made seeing a very good work rate from Jasmine on the right and Jas playing up front came very close in the closing stages only for the City keeper to save her shot.
The Belles produced a better second half but again got caught 3 times in a space of minutes between them.
The Norwich girls worked hard often seeing them break and our half being flooded with City shirts with the Belles still camped in their half.
It was just not going to be the Belles day leaving the Management with lots of work to do and head scratching!

North Walsham Girls 2  Belles 7

The Belles travelled to North Walsham for their 1st league match of the season, with the coach getting lost! They were in top spirit's looking all the part in their new kit and track suits.
With new signings Jenna & Jasmine and two key players missing Lydia (new signing) and Jasmine the goal machine how were the Belles going to cope with the extra 10mins each way?
With a quick warm up with the help of Jordon and extra training for new goalie Jenna from Paul; the girls were well and truly warmed up and ready to go!
Straight from the kick off the girls battled for the ball and with Yaz in control of the centre of the park, and her bursting runs gave Holly many options to push forward coming close in the first 5 mins hitting the post.
Cheyenne and Rosie sealed up the back line stopping everything coming through and protecting Jenna the cat who commanded the goal instructing the players to "mark up".
The Belles worked hard and it was not long until their hard work paid off when Holly (new elected Captain) cool as a cucumber slotted the ball into the back of the net. With Lauren playing on the right hand side gave us plenty of options and made sure she won every ball that came her way which soon paid off again with a thundering battle for Yaz ensuring she too was going to be on the score sheet.
Jasmine S worked the home side, defence hard and was keen to show us what she could do and opened her account for the Belles (well done Jas!) with a lack of concentration and a goal scramble the North Walsham girls managed to squeeze the ball through our umpteen players in the box leaving Jenna no chance. The Belles walked in at half time with a winning 3-1 score line.
With a change of Rosie at half time pulling Holly back into defence duties and pushing Jess into the right of mid field and Lauren moving on to the left, gave Jess the key she was waiting for working hard and winning every ball making sure she was the 1st one there every time, and what great speed she showed too!  With the Belles starting to enjoy their game it was not long till Jas got her 2nd and Yaz her 2nd and Jas her 3rd and 4th costing her Mum £20.00 and Granddad £8 showing us how she was going to enjoy her ice cream money with celebrations of kart wheels!
Cheyenne ran the defence with Rosie and both girls were solid with the often brilliant run from Cheyenne bringing the ball skilfully out of the back line taking on not one, but two players and playing the key pass.
Well done to all the Belles great team work, lets keep it up! you were all on fire!

Belles on Fire

Dereham Wanderers FC hosted their first tournament at the weekend.
Dereham Wanderers U10 Girls finished second in the league stages and went on to play Mulbarton in the final after losing 2-0 to them in the league stages.
It was an evenly-matched game but Mulbarton had been on fire throughout the tournament and deserved their 1-0 win.

League Cup Review

The Belles travelled to sunny Talbot Park Hempnall for the U10 end of season league cup. Although all the Belles played very well in all matches they were unable to bring the trophy home. Some excellent play against very good sides and certainly showed great spirit to a excellent day to which the Management cannot wait till next season where we are certain the Belles will once again entertain and make excellent progress in the U11 league.

Tournament Review

With all the Belles available for the home 6 a side tournament the squad was lucky enough to enter two teams (1x the lionesses 1x vixens)
While the vixens were up against some excellent teams and showed super determination throughout some difficult matches they were unlucky within their group and unfortunately had too leave early from the competition.
Where the lionesses produced three excellent results against teams within their group (who had beaten them constantly throughout the season) and secured their place into the semi final against Dereham, with a hard fought match the Belles took the Dereham team into extra time and then golden goal and unluckily lost 1-0 (did that ball cross the line????)
Well done to all the Belles for a excellent day and all your work rate TOP CLASS.
Thanks Mum's & Dad's (Lewis & Jordon) for all your help (and with the gazebo!!!) Warm welcome to Joanna,Lydia & Jenna to the U10 Belles see you all training on 30th May 10am.
