Training on the Common Saturday's at 9.30am  Fixtures Male Leagues

Norwich Utd 5 Wanderers 4

Who ever said that football is a game of 2 half's must have been using a crystal ball and watching this game.
After last weeks 9-5 defeat to the same team the training and team talk was designed to motivate and work out a way to reverse the score line. As a result it was a confident Wanderers team that took to the pitch. We knew that if we could get the opposition on the back foot they would start arguing and their game would suffer.
The game started with good possession and passing, the confidence was rewarded when Jamie produced some excellent work and his cross was volleyed into the back of the net by the hard working Brad. Within a couple of minutes the impressive Norwich centre forward broke through the defence but Josh in goal was superb in saving a certain equaliser. This gave the team more confidence and they were rewarded when Charlie won possession, passed the ball wide to Robert who beat 2 players, cut inside and produced a sweet finish to extend the lead. By now the predicted arguing started and after a Harrison through ball, Charlie scored the third goal. The defence were rarely troubled, Peter was having one of his best games and with Ben running his socks off as usual and the centre half pairing of Tom and Alfie rock solid, there looked no way back for Norwich United. After more good work from Rob a hand ball gave Tom the chance to extend the lead and he coolly smashed the ball into the net to make the half time score 4-0 to the Wanderers.
We knew that Norwich would fight back but no one predicted the second half. After 5 minutes they scored their first goal, adding a second 5 minutes later when an unmarked player had a free header from a corner. Refusing to panic the game settled but Norwich were not to be denied. Josh was nothing short of excellent in goal making a string of fine saves to keep the team in the game, but a third goal was inevitable and it soon followed, from a run down the right a through ball and a clinical finish. It was not totally one way traffic and after Rob beat 2 players Charlie just failed to get on the end of his cross. The equaliser came and with just seconds on the clock remaining the ball was scrambled over the line to give Norwich the lead. From the kick off Tom hit an excellent through ball to Jamie but his finish just let him down. The final whistle was blown to break the hearts of a spirited Wanderers team and supporters.
Although it was a poor result credit must go to the Norwich United team for an excellent come back. The Wanderers must take heart from an excellent first half display and some wonderful individual performances. If they can play with this much effort for the rest of the season there will be few teams that take any points off them, they should be proud of what they are now achieving.
Man of the match Josh B. Whether it was Mick's training on Thurs. night or just pure determination I don't know but Josh produced a superb performance, simply outstanding.

Wanderers 5 Norwich Utd 9

After a successful last 2 games the team talk was all about how there was nothing to fear from today's visit of Norwich Utd. although they are 4th in the league the confidence from the last 2 wins was all the motivation the team needed.
the game started and the Wanderers took control from the start. the improvement in the team was clear and they took a well deserved lead when tom cleared the ball to Robert who's cross was superbly controlled by an in form Jamie and his sweet shot found the back of the net. Norwich continued to probe the defence and scored a deserved equaliser. but a sign of the recent improvement showed when the Wanderers refused to feel sorry for themselves then tom hit a shot from the half way line that found the back of the net. after some more excellent work from Robert Johnny scored his first ever goal for the club and the smile on his face was a sight to behold. Just before half time Norwich hit a goal back to make the half time score 3-2 to the Wanderers.
The half time team talk was all about the midfield closing the gap and watching out for the long thru ball with the wind being in the Norwich favour. Unfortunately the talk was not fully heeded and in the second half Norwich took control of the game scoring a flattering 7 goals. However it was pleasing that the team did not start arguing or criticising each other and Charlie scored 2 well taken goals to make the final score 5-9.
OK so we were beaten, but we scored more goals in this game than any other this season, sure there are lessons to learn but also some big improvements have been made.
Man of the match, Tom for his excellent goal but also the great leadership he showed when the team's fortunes changed; also a mention to Josh B who despite feeling ill, turned up and did wonders in between the sticks.

 Horsford 0 Wanderers 4

After the 1st win of the season last week a confidant Wanderers team took to field against Horsford and their confidence was proved to be correct. in the 1st half the Wanderers took complete control with the striking partnership of 'Jarlie' a constant threat to the Horsford goal. it was only the superb handling from the Horsford keeper that kept the game scoreless. The Wanderers would not be denied though and after an excellent clearance from Ben, Robert crossed a dangerous ball into the box and Arthur was there to tap in the first goal and his 1st for the team.
The second half started in a similar way with the Wanderers dominating possession and looking likely to extend their lead. Another great cross from Robert and a superb finish from Charlie did exactly that. however Horsford would not let their heads drop and really put the pressure on, only fine work from the defence kept them at bay. Totally against the run of play Jamie scored a superb lob to take the pressure off. That really knocked the stuffing out of the revival and Jamie knocked in his second shortly after to make the final score 4-0 to the Wanderers
Man of the match Ben, tireless running in defence and some super passing out to clear the danger

Wanderers 3 Salhouse 2

After the improved performance in last weeks 'drowning' the Wanderers took to the field against a Salhouse team also looking for their first win of the season although not winning a game the Wanderers were told that if they work hard and get some luck then victory could be theirs.
The game started and a close encounter looked certain, the Wanderers were holding their own and could of taken the lead when Charlie was 1 on 1 with the keeper but unfortunately could not find the back of the net. Salhouse then struck a blow to the Wanderers by opening the scoring with a well taken goal.
The big question was then how would the Wanderers react? They could have not reacted better as everyone was positive and determined to strike back. Tom hit a long clearance out of defence which found Jamie who's perfect cross was put into his own net by a Salhouse defender, but it was Charlie's pressure that forced the own goal. Was this the luck the team needed? A free kick was given away outside the box and a looping header just crept under the crossbar to give Salhouse the lead once more. Again the spirit from the Wanderers was a sight to behold and after some good work in midfield Jamie hit the perfect lob the equalise. The team then got the lead when another cross into the box was well finished by Charlie.
After previous games where the team had lost its way in the second half the team was reshuffled to give an extra player in midfield and sent out to continue the good work of the 1st half.
Salhouse came out and applied loads of pressure but a combination of luck, great defending, superb goalkeeping and improved team spirit kept the score sheet the same, in fact the Wanderers should have been rewarded with 2 good well taken goals from Charlie only for the offside flag to deny Charlie the goals he deserved.
The final whistle was greeted with deserved relief. The Wanderers had played their socks off and got their first victory of the season
Man of the match, jamie, an excellent goal and a superb second half display, although the whole team deserved the accolade for a much improved performance
