Wanderers 2  Scole 3

Well done the Wanderers. Ii know its a defeat but after a poor game against Scole in the cup the boys came out fighting. Over the 60 minutes we were the better team. Harrys debut in goal and Rory as left back seemed to add some fire at the back and Pastie was solid most of the game. The back four worked hard kept their positions and allowed the midfield and attack to go forward. Jack's first goal for the team was well taken and he was cool in its execution. Christian Connor and Angus worked without a breather coming back to win the ball in midfield. Chris also scored his first goal and in all they to a man, made me very proud.
We will work on more passing at training but we if we played like that every week we would be top of the league.
A special mention to Harry who will be a solid keeper in a few weeks-good man.
Man of the match -The wanderers- all of them!

Toftwood 6 -Mulbarton 1

The under 11s were decimated by injuries with key players missing, but excuses aside we were beaten by a taller, more composed team who passed and moved with touches and skills beyond their years. We were 2 down inside 5 minutes but found some resolve and fought back- Angus hindered by a bad cold broke free from midfield and Ben followed in well to slot home the rebound off the keeper. We held them to 2-1 up to half time but as usual half time proved our undoing. The great run by Angus had caused him breathing difficulties and he came off. Without him we saw the usual hoofing of the ball, the 'dipping the toe' into tackles by some players and we generally took our foot off the pedal.
The goals came pouring in from the opposition and only when a brave Angus came back on did we show some more spirit. When we broke we looked good and Christian scored a nice goal from a great Angus free kick and a good ball into the box by Callum. We need to work on offsides front and back and also the passing and movement we work hard on at training but never seems to materialise on match days.
Man of the match Angus, with Pastie coming a close second. If we would could ALL switch on the match day we do have some great players and we could do much better.

Wanderers 4 Watton 5

Hugely disappointing morning -thank goodness for the vets wining 3-1 later in the day which cheered me up, but only slightly!
Watton put us under pressure from the start, scoring 2 quick goals. It was a good example of passing and moving for the first goal, but for the second they showed bad sportsmanship by cheering and over celebrating a bad clearance which resulted in an own goal. (I wish some parents and managers would realise these are 10 year olds and stop living out their frustrated Alex Ferguson fantasies every Sunday).
Two down Mulbarton showed what they are capable of. Jordan took a ball in the face but ran on to it, dribbled it through their midfield, battled with their defence, looked up and scored. Let’s have more of this from all 11 players and for 60 minutes please. The equaliser came from a scrappy battle on the goal line and again Jordan threw himself at the ball sending it behind their line, 2-2.
By now Angus had realised he could make strong forward runs which we all know he is capable of every game and hopefully he now realises he can do every game. Forward he charged, racing with the ball at his feet, leaving Watton players in his wake, he shoots he scores 3-2. Then it was Joshs turn, growing in stature every game Josh is now taking players on and finding his own space. If the ball is played to Josh and he is in front of goal then put your money on a spectacular shot which 9 times out of 10 will test the strength of the goal net, 4-2 to the Wanderers. I have to add at this stage all 11 were working hard but we have to look up, not bunch up, pass more effectively and show some more spirit.
Half time and we had changes forced on us –Rory came out of goal and Connor replaced him and we rested a couple more. Jack was bright and inventive when he came on and has proved he is worthy of starting the next game and giving us 60 minutes of strong performance. He worked the ball well down the right and with a clever move won us a penalty which we failed to convert, much to the enjoyment of the Watton crowd who obviously thought they were watching Norwich vs Ipswich in the cup final.
Connors ankle had now given up on him and he wasn’t as mobile as he would have liked and the outfield lads decided they would now defend for the remainder of the game-big mistake. The Watton boys wanted to win more than us and played really well to a man.
They scored 3 goals n the second half and were deserved 5-4 winners.

Wanderers 7 Heigham Park 1

Another great day for standing on the common and watching football. Again a few team alterations forced on Mulbarton, but we are getting there and hope to be more consistent very soon.
Mulbarton put the Heigham Park goal under siege from early on and didn’t let up for most of the game. However we were guilty of wasting chances and not covering in the middle of the park, hence the goal conceded and the worrying possibility of a few more.
2 goals from Christian, (who didn’t stop running)2 from Jordan, 1 from Ben, a superb goal by Josh and a great solo effort from Bop sealed the win. An excellent debut from Pasty at right back offers encouragement for the future. Some more battlers this week but we need to do this every week. Angus is growing in stature every game and even replaced Rory in goal, a great gesture from a true Captain.
Man of the match Jordan –he’s starting to run with the ball and become more confident. Keep it up lads.

Wanderers 3 Taverham 1

What a great day for a football match ! The boys started well but didn't keep the momentum going. It wasn't long before they were on the back foot again and the supporters watched our defence come under siege. As usual there were solid, dependable performances from Zack, Dylan and Rory who is controlling his area superbly. There seemed to be a missing link between the defence and midfield however as we couldn't move up the pitch with any ease. We also were swapping players all over the place trying to find the lads their best positions.
Suddenly it clicked. Chris came on as right back and made the position his own. With the midfield battling well, Christian, Connor and Jack in particular; we started to stamp our authority on the game. We scored two excellent goals by pushing up the defence and although they were built by the team they were scored with individual brilliance by the same player.
The game became more physical and while some of us rose to the occasion others faded away. Chris in particular seemed to defend by himself sometimes and then so did Dylan and Zack. Chris also managed a shot from just outside the oppositions area and it would have been an outstanding goal if not for an excellent save from the Taverham keeper. Against the run of play Taverham scored a superb back header and found Rory off his line -there was nothing he could do, but it didn't tarnish another great performance from a great keeper, who saved 2 or 3 shots which would have changed the game.
We pushed forward again with Christian and Connor battling and holding the midfield high up the pitch. Then after one of a few superb runs by Jack his trailing leg was taken away in the area and we were awarded a penalty.
A confident Connor stepped up and sealed the game for us. Some superb performances by a few, Christian, Connor, Zack, Dylan and Chris who wins man of the match.

Salhouse 3 Wanderers 0

The boys started well and the under 11's certainly held their own. This is a new Mulbarton team up against what is effectively the best of two teams under the Salhouse banner. The Salhouse boys seemed hungrier than our lads and wanted the ball more, they also passed effectively. However, Mulbarton were strong in defence with very credible performances from all across the back line.
Two dubious decisions by the Salhouse coach, acting as referee denied Christian a run on goal and then award Salhouse a goal where the ball was deemed to have crossed the line. The linesman was positioned on the corner flag and didn’t give it whilst the referee was outside the box but hey there you go !
Jordan had 3 or 4 decent attempts on goal and Christian battled for the duration. Rory used his area well in goal but as Mulbarton went forward to equalise the space at the back was used effectively on the break by Salhouse who scored 2 more goals.
A few team changes and more work on the training field for sure.
Man of the match Christian but a special mention for Dylan and Rory –all battlers !
