Bulldogs 6 Wanderers 0

Bulldogs came to us in high spirits, and in good form and not long after their dominance with their good passing game had undone all the boys hard work in the first quarter, by comfortably passing us off the park. As a we unit need to have a bit more belief, like some of what we had at the very beginning of the season and we can give the teams that are above us and below a better game. There was again good positives within the group of lads, more teamwork and this unit could cause anyone problems. We just need to believe it!
Marcus again had a solid game, as did Liam and a great Man of the match performance from Aiden, also with Bailey returning back gave us some strength where it was needed in the middle of the park. A debut for Jake saw him trouble the Bulldogs defence a few times, a good performance for his 1st game in the famous Blue & Black of Mulbarton. Captain Wills was never still and was busy in nearly every area of the pitch, getting stuck in and trying his hardest to gee the boys along. Rhys again ever willing was covering blade after blade of grass, and Kieron - who is getting better & better after each performance - gave a great account of himself breaking up some Bulldog's moves and starting some of our moves as well.
Let's keep positive. One request from myself if you can? Could we have a bigger support on match days at home for the boys? I appreciate parents, grandparents uncles sisters Aunts may not be able to make it due to other commitments, but the away contingent seem to out gun us by at least 2 to 1.

Wymondham 17 Wanderers 1

As Arsen Wenger stated, “any manager can deal with success, its how we deal with disappointment that will make us”
As Mulbarton rocked into town to face top of the league Wymondham for what on paper looked likely to be one humdinger of game this was not to be the case, we were to be left shell shocked within the first 5 minutes. A a very fast and resourceful Wymondham had 3 in the onion bag, wow!!!!!!
After that the boys were a shadow of their former selves missing Bailey also, but battled on nonetheless against a very strong hot favourite to win the league Wymondham. We showed great strength to keep our chins up, and face some medicine that we were dishing out last season, and I truly believe this will benefit the boys no end, to mark out the positives in the game there was a stunning man of the match performance from Marcus who if you would have had him as your keeper in the fantasy league then you would have got yourself a lot of points, as his goal was peppered for 50 minutes and save after save after save he stopped the score being a rugby one. One other positive was that Captain Wills got on the score sheet again, taking his tally to 4 goals in 3 games and with Liam George Jamie & Aiden coming up with some good interchanging on the pitch showed us some exciting times ahead if we can keep to our positions and then there should be no more surprises this season!
Rhys again was very enthusiastic and Kieran was as ever very industrious by covering a lot of ground and hounding down the opposition. Unbeaten run now over  - last season it took 18 games. We knew this year was going to be anything but easy, so won 3 drawn 1 lost 1, lets hope we can be positive come Sunday against the Bulldogs.

Wanderers5  Lakenheath 5

On a lush sunny Sunday Morning, amongst the tree’s and rabbit holes, Lakenheath came to town, armed with what looked like a very formidable outfit, and after the game had started you could see just why they are in the lofty heights of 2nd place in the table. This did not deter the boys and in true fashion with a typical run from the middle Bailey settled the manager's nerves by scoring what was one of his 3 on yet another Man of the match performance. Also Jamie got in on the act by following up on a rebound from the keeper, but this only seemed to anger the Lakenheath team who proved a tough team to beat.
At one point we had them where we wanted them with sterling performances from Liam & Aiden and 1st time appearances for George & Kieran. William got himself on the score sheet with a nerve jangling contest in a one v one with probably one of the best goalies we will probably face all season, but with rued missed chances by us, and them, a great penalty save from Marcus and numerous other saves, we should have in fact seen this game out as comfortable winners by more goals than the actual score line would suggest, but it was not meant to be!
So Lakenheath had pegged us back to 4 – 4 until minutes from the end Bailey stepped up with what looked like the winner, but in games of this type the game is not over until the final whistle is blown, and with crossed wires in defence Lakenheath managed to salvage a point with almost the last kick of the game.
Again the under 9’s showed that even with the disappointment of dropping 2 points they were still upbeat and ready for their next challenge, they were a credit to themselves, their mums & dads and the club, and I’m proud to say that I’m their Manager, thank you boys for yet another great performance.
Team Marcus(gk) Aiden, Liam, George (D) William(c)(1 goal) Kieran, Rhys, Jamie( 1 goal) Bailey(3 goals)

Wanderers 12 Watton 1

Again the march of the Black & Blue of Mulbarton's under 9's Voyage into the wilds of the South Norfolk league comes up trumps once again, with a jaw dropping performance by the boys, from goal all the way to the front we bossed this game, Bailey in awesome form come in with a Triple hat trick, and quite rightly was voted Man of the Match, William joined in with the scoring by adding 2 goals to his tally with a great all over captain's performance and almost completed a hat trick himself, but last but not least Rhys came in and scored the 12th goal with a great run through the middle which left the Watton defence in all sorts of confusion.
All in all the game was played in very good sprits and it was a Joy to watch, Watton got a deserved consolation goal after lots of perseverance just before the final whistle. So played 3 won 3 long may it continue. Well done lads give yourselves a big pat on the back.

Wanderers 5 Harling 4

A very entertaining game of end to end football, which had a mix bag of experience and debut’s for Aiden and James.
Harling held there own for quite some time in this match, and it was no surprise that they took the lead with a fine well worked team goal, but has ever when the chips are down the under 9’s never say die attitude comes the forefront, with Bailey bagging a goal for the team. At one point the Wanderers were 4-2 down but with great steel we got back into the game with almost the last kick of the 3rd period with what I can say hand on heart probably one of the best goals I have seen over this foot balling weekend ( yes even your goal defoe). A wicked ball in from the right, and a sublime header from Harvey which got us back level to 4 a piece, and then from out of nowhere with a man of the match performance to boot George stepped up to bag the wanderer’s vital winner in this tense hard fought game.
So played 2 won 2 - long may that continue.
The team was, William (gk) Josh, Aiden, James, Jamie, Rhys, Bailey (1goal), Harvey (2 goals), George (2 Goals).

Wanderers  7 Dereham Wanderers Yellows 1

There was a back to school feel on a fresh Mulbarton Common. This was the first official “competitive” side (according to FA rules) for the boys in this age group. So Wanderers under 9s put out a mixture of experienced boys from last year and those who will be playing regularly for the first time.
The first quarter saw a diminutive Dereham have territorial advantage while the home side look threatening on the break. Second quarter saw Wanderers begin to exert greater pressure but again the woodwork, or should that be plastic work and good goalkeeping kept the score blank. Finally the deadlock was broken by Dereham who got the goal their earlier possession perhaps deserved but the timing was surprising becauseit was at a time Mulbarton were beginning to exert greater control. Quickly
though Harvey’s poacher instinct was rewarded twice to leave the home side 2-1 up heading into
the final quarter.
Now Wanderers’ greater fitness and physical presence told as Dereham finally ran out of steam. Logan scored twice, sandwiching an effort from a goal mouth scramble for Josh. Harvey completed his hat-trick which left time for Man of the match Logan to also complete a hat-trick within a quarter.
All in all it was a very satisfying start to 2009/2010.
Wanderers: Will (GK), Rhys, Josh, Bailey, Jamie, Henry, Logan, Harvey
Goal scorers: Harvey 3, Logan 3, Josh
Man of the match: Logan
